Renowned Florence Chiropractor Acknowledged at State Conference

Louisville, KY – Dr. Richard Broeg, a distinguished chiropractor based in Florence, KY, has been honored with the 2024 Presidential Award by the Kentucky Association of Chiropractors (KAC) in recognition of his remarkable 50-year career. A 1973 graduate of Palmer Chiropractic College in Davenport, Iowa, Dr. Broeg has been a dedicated practitioner in Kentucky since 1974 and established his present practice in Florence in 1984.

Dr. Broeg’s commitment to excellence and leadership in his profession, as well as his positive impact on patients and the community, were highlighted by KAC Executive Director Rachel Wendt. “Dr. Broeg has demonstrated a longstanding history of leading by example. His contributions extend beyond the chiropractic field, making a positive impact on his patients and the community. The KAC is honored to bestow the 2024 Presidential Award upon Dr. Broeg for his exceptional 50-year career,” Wendt stated.

In a recent interview with Dr. Doug Krift, Dr. Broeg shared insights into the evolution of chiropractic over the past five decades. Reflecting on the early years of his practice, he outlined six notable differences, including the absence of insurance coverage for chiropractic services, the lack of electronic health records (EHR) due to the absence of computers, and the reliance on handwritten or typewritten documentation.

Dr. Broeg also elaborated on the pivotal changes he has witnessed in the chiropractic profession, citing advancements in chiropractic education, research, and the establishment of organizations fostering communication and collaboration within the field. Notable improvements in continuing education, changes in insurance coverage, and technological advancements in practice management were among the transformative shifts he highlighted.

When asked about the key factor contributing to his practice’s success over five decades, Dr. Broeg attributed it to the unwavering support of his wife and partner, Mary, of 53 years.

A longstanding member of the Kentucky Association of Chiropractors, Dr. Broeg was previously honored as Chiropractor of the Year in 1990. He served on the Kentucky State Board of Chiropractic Examiners from 2000 to 2004 and has received numerous awards and honors for his contributions to the profession. Additionally, Dr. Broeg is a member of the American Chiropractic Association and holds certification in Exercise and Rehabilitation.

The award presentation took place at the 2024 LB Payne Insurance Seminar hosted by KAC in Louisville, Kentucky, on January 20, 2024. This annual event attracted over 150 participants and featured clinical education sessions addressing pertinent topics impacting chiropractic and healthcare in Kentucky.
