All Kentucky licensed doctors of chiropractic must renew their license by March 1, of each year to remain in active status and legally continue practicing in the Commonwealth. The Kentucky Board of Chiropractic Examiners does not grant automatic extensions, and failure to renew on time may result in late fees, lapse of licensure, or disciplinary consequences.

A current, active license is required to:

  • Legally practice chiropractic in Kentucky
  • Maintain participation with insurance carriers
  • Avoid interruption to patient care
  • Remain compliant with state law and regulatory requirements

Practicing on an expired license, even unintentionally, can create significant legal and professional risk.

There is a 45 day grace period, however there is an ADDITIONAL $300 fee if you are late on your renewal.

Doctors are strongly encouraged to complete renewal well in advance of the deadline. This allows time to address any issues related to continuing education, documentation, or technical problems with the renewal system.

Before submitting your renewal, confirm that you have:

  • Completed 12 CEs of KBCE board approved continuing education hours for the renewal cycle. Each board approved course will have a specific KBCE approval number.
  • Verified that your CE credits are uploaded when you renew your license in your portal.
  • Reviewed and updated your contact and practice information
  • Submitted payment and received confirmation of renewal

License renewal is completed through the Kentucky Board of Chiropractic Examiners official licensing portal here: https://oop.ky.gov/DPLServices/Login.aspx

It is the licensee’s responsibility to complete 12 board approved CE hours compliant with KBCE regulations. Do not assume a course provider has reported credits correctly. Retain copies of all CE certificates as you must upload your CE certificate when you renew your license.

Reminder: Peer Reviewers are required to get an additional 6 hours of continuing education that are approved by the KBCE specifically for peer reviewers. You cannot use your general education hours for your peer review hours. They must be different.

Each renewal cycle, delays occur due to missing CE documentation, payment issues, or high system traffic close to the deadline. Renewing early helps prevent unnecessary stress and ensures uninterrupted practice operations.

Mark your calendar now and make license renewal a priority well before March 1, 2026. Staying proactive protects your license, your patients, and your practice.

If you have questions regarding renewal requirements or compliance, consult the Kentucky Board of Chiropractic Examiners directly or reach out to the Kentucky Association of Chiropractors for guidance.
