On November 9, 2019, in conjunction with the ChiroCongress annual convention in San Diego, CA, the Future of Chiropractic Forum was held, and stakeholders from across the country were invited to participate in this historic event. Representatives from state association leadership, colleges, national organizations, corporate partners, individual practitioners, and more joined together to share their viewpoints through a facilitated discussion focused on what the future of chiropractic looks like in the next 50 years with a goal of identifying a specific effort that a diverse group of individuals and organizations could support. It was concluded that the profession needs a strategic plan. ChiroCongress agreed to take on the coordination of this effort on behalf of the profession.
To date, the plan has completed two phases. Phase I was research and data collection. The profession was surveyed, and a third party, Future IQ, analyzed the results. To explore their conclusions, visit Future IQ’s dashboard and read the Phase I report, please click here.
Phase II of the strategic plan started on March 10, 2021. As a result of Phase I, four main areas became the plan’s top priorities, ultimately creating 4 task forces. Those four task forces included professional identity, research, utilization, and legislation. Each group had a different focus, but they all had the same process. On June 4, 2021, ChiroCongress released its action plan report following the close of Phase II.To watch the video of the Phase II report and learn more about the next steps, please click here.
Where are we today? The work is not done! We are currently transitioning into Phase III of the strategic planning process – Implementation! The four priorities (professional identity, research, utilization, and legislation) have moved into six working committees for more direct focus and to create more tangible and objective action steps. Phase III is just getting started as the six committees look to begin their work in June 2021! Please stay tuned for more information as we take this next step for the chiropractic profession.
