Over the last year many things have changed for all of us.  At the beginning of 2020 the ACA was able to meet in person in January for our annual meeting, Engage 2020. The strategic plan for 2020-2024 was developed and includes a focus on advancing professional parity, enhancing the ACA’s position as the standard bearer for chiropractic, strengthening the ACA’s Chiropractic field leadership, inspiring ACA members to embrace professional pride, and ensuring the ACA’s financial stability and sustainability.  Our membership has remained steady with over 10,500 members.  The Board of Governor’s held their elections and Dr. Robert Jones retained his position as ACA President and Dr. Michele Maiers was re-elected to serve another term as Vice-President.  We were able to successfully meet with legislators on the Hill and gained an additional co-sponsor for H.R. 3654 bringing our total co-sponsorship in KY up to 3 out of our 6. But it seems the world turned upside down for everyone with the introduction of COVID 19. As most of you have had to adapt the ACA has had to adapt as well.  In-person meetings have been suspended and while business has carried on it has been through virtual platforms.  This has brought new opportunities as well as new challenges but we continue to learn and grow.  Over the last year the ACA has provided the following guidance to members:
–          Helped doctors navigate and interpret the many changes associated with COVID
–          Provided webinars and resources for doctors to seek PPP and SBA loans
–          Promoted chiropractors as essential health care workers to our legislators
–          Urged Senate support for financial relief for healthcare providers in COVID 19 bill
–          Provided a reliable source of PPE to chiropractors

Most recently the ACA has released a push for “Get Active and Adaptive” for National Chiropractic Health Month in October.  For more information, you can visit https://handsdownbetter.org/health-and-wellness/national-chiropractic-health-month/.

The ACA could not achieve these goals without support from our membership.  We thank you for your continued commitment to our cause.  For those interested in membership details or if you are in need of access to the many educational opportunities provided by the ACA please visit www.acatoday.org.
