The Kentucky Association of Chiropractors and the American Chiropractic Association have been advocating for some time now for the passage of H.R. 2654 in the U.S. Congress, the Chiropractic Medicare Coverage Modernization Act. The house bill currently has 129 co-sponsors. Kentucky Congressmen Yarmuth (D-3), Comer (R-1) and Massie (R-4) have signed onto the bill.
Now, Senators Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) and Kevin Cramer (R-ND) are preparing to introduce a companion bill to H.R. 2654 in the Senate. A Senate companion, identical to the House version, is a vital step in passing this legislation and creating better access to Medicare-covered services allowed under a chiropractor’s state licensure.
WHAT YOU NEED TO DO:
Call your senators and urge them to become original cosponsors to the Chiropractic Medicare Coverage Modernization Act, soon to be introduced by senators Blumenthal and Cramer.
Senator Mitch McConnell (R): (202) 224-2541
Senator Rand Paul: (202) 224-4343
A sample message would be:
Hello my name is Dr. ___________________ from _______________. I’m calling to urge Senator McConnell/Paul to become an original cosponsor of the Chiropractic Medicare Coverage Modernization Act that will soon be introduced by senators Blumenthal and Cramer. This bill will allow greater access to chiropractic services already covered by Medicare. Please pass this information along to appropriate staff, and I look forward to the senator becoming an original cosponsor of this legislation. Thank you.
Please call your senators at your earliest convenience. The more original cosponsors there are, the greater the likelihood of success.
Please feel free to forward this message to patients, family, friends and colleagues and look for more information on this in future KAC and ACA communications.
