This alert bulletin stems from a provision in a bill passed by the House late last year that, among other things, enhances certain abilities of the Federal Trade Commission to clamp down on disingenuous advertisers.   There is nothing in this provision that specifically mentions the supplement industry as a target for future action.

This provision is not included in a similar Senate bill dealing with financial reform, nor is one thought to be considered on the Senate floor when this bill is debated.

The ACA has been in contact with their DSHEA coalition and the coalition is standing fast on any immediate grassroots action before they can gather further information as to the validity of this provision being a legitimate threat to the supplement industry.  If we find that this provision is a threat and the DSHEA coalition were to engage, a clear, consistent message will be developed and the coalition will act as one.

I joined the Kentucky Association of Chiropractors as soon as I graduated.  I admit I joined primarily because my father had been a member as long as I could remember.  I'm still a member today because of all the work the KAC does to protect chiropractic and promote chiropractic in the state of Kentucky.  READ MORE...
